Is Your Shilajit Hard As A Rock?

Is Your Shilajit Hard As A Rock?

In this short blog post, we will go through the "problem" of rock-hard shilajit and why it is a good sign if your shilajit turns out to be hard as a stone.

A quality of Shilajit is that it is an adaptogen

For those who do not know what an adaptogen is, here is the definition:

'An adaptogen is (in herbal medicine) a natural substance that helps the body adapt to physical, mental, and environmental stress by supporting adrenal function and balancing stress hormones.'

When Shilajit is exposed to cold or warm environments, it will adapt to the temperature change.

So for instance, when your Shilajit arrives during winter time, it will be most likely very hard.

Shilajit can become so hard that it breaks like glass!

I had this happen yesterday when I tried to scoop out some Shilajit with a fork. The jar had been left in a cold room and when I tried to scoop out the top layer of Shilajit, it broke and little pieces of Shilajit flew out of the jar.

So when you find your shilajit like this, do not panic...

This is a sign of genuine and quality Shilajit!

When your Shilajit is too hard to scoop out, simply place the jar in a warmer environment or place it on the heating for a couple of minutes. Simple.

The best place to store Shilajit is at room temperature, away from direct sunlight in a dry place like a cupboard.
